This project, designed by Olga Mihailovich of the Element Group, involved front and rear additions to a typical Don
Mills home of the 1950s, completely transforming it into the contemporary home the clients - a retired couple -
had dreamed of. At the same time, the design & construction team was able to work with existing interior spaces
which had already been renovated (kitchen & living room) retaining them and integrating them into the new
design. Because of this - and the fact that the clients lived in the house during the entire construction period - the
building work had to be carefully planned and staged to ensure the house remained liveable and the existing
spaces were not damaged.
The completed house includes an airy new sunspace, a new master suite & ensuite and a rooftop deck, all opening
out into the lush landscape of the clients’ rear garden. The new additions are richly appointed with high end
materials and carefully detailed.
